This book is delightful and fascinating; an important addition to the literature of bells….As I thought of the book, suddenly, after 35 years of collecting bells and listening for them, it all made sense….As the Dawsons allow you to share in their journey, you will become inspired to embark on your own.

As a photographer, I've always found it fascinating to explore the rituals and traditions of cultures during my travels. However, I never really thought about the role that bells had in providing a closer look into a place and its people.  From the melodic sound of ringing in churches to hospital wards to adornments around the necks of animals, Julie Dawson shares stories and photographs on the commonality of bells from an artist's perspective.  Different shapes, sizes, materials, historical and spiritual significance - Julie's passion and curiosity shines through in this informative travel record.
